Was quite fun at first but slowly but surely starts to get annoying. The torches though are indeed so overpowered that i think i actually will not try and get one.it is nice to know though that if i wanted to i could. @ cattleya: It is not my intention to actually promote this mod. The problem, as you can see above, is that i only see advantages, more or less. Possessing the Anni though (or a torch) does unbalance the game, for me mainly due to the +20 resistances (and the attributes), making my char much more flexible in terms of what gear he can wear.

Best char right now is an 87 fanazealaot. I am not enthusiastic enough (or fanatic.) to start another one just to see how a lightning- or cold-based one works or the infamous hammerdin. Personal ethics (or rather the standards i have set to myself to make the game the most enjoyable for me) restrict me from undoing mistakes/blunders on my behalf or mis-skilled charakters due to blizzard's lack of transparency concerning later levels (or rather their not quite so good balancing as far as i'm concerned, as quite a number of skills are extremely powerful early in the game and utterly useless in the later stages). The most annoying thing of vanilla D2, the ridiculously small storage space: PlugY takes care of that in such a way as it should have been in the first place. Since D2 is mainly an item-collecting game (perfect builds with average gear simply lose out to average builds with perfect gear) rather than anything else I can only imagine that this has not been Blizzard's intention but a 'necessary evil' in the times of ISDN and some such. I have not yet done uber tristram but it's nice to hear that they have it enabled.

If you already own the game, login to battle.net and find Diablo II in your game's list to get your key. Otherwise purchase one from the store. After you've entered your key and continued on with the installation process, you can repeat the same process but this time with the expansion found in the 'Expansion' folder. This will require a Lord of Destruction key (that's a different key from the previous one). Run this in your Diablo II folder.

After reading Smiffy's first post about the PlugY mod, I became curious. Hence, I searched the Internet for it and got hold of it. By the way, I am completely against cheating of any sort, just so you know. I noticed the Stat and Skill editing function and I must say. I felt guilty just by looking at it. As for the Extended Stash function, I also felt a pang of guilt.

I was able to edit the PlugY.ini file, stupid UAC wouldn't let me unless I moved it to the desktop first even after setting write permissions. Man vista sucks. But still no luck. If I reinstall PlugY will it keep my character?

New people who came to the forum would see that PlugY was okay, but might not read up enough to realize that there were very specific restrictions on it's use. Plus, as has been mentioned, we have ATMA and GoMule to help with muling (as well as fast user switching). After digging out D2 from under the bed ca. 4 weeks ago i first visited Blizzard's forum and after looking at the first page of threads there immediately tucked it back again. A flame war had erupted in one thread where someone had asked for help in some matter, where the combatants actually 'discussed' America's role in the world (!). Oh, the language, the language! Now just to get the PlugY mod working. I went directly to the PlugY launcher and tried to open it. Instantly the well known error 'wrong version of the library d2gfx.dll' comes up. Okay, so it's an improvement on last time, but I didn't patch the d2gfx.dll in the directory containing PlugY to 1.13?? And that's when it hits me, PlugY is asking the registry where the LOD files can be found and it's directing it to the newly installed and patched files. It makes sense now why it didn't do anything after I changed the folder name.

Well, the only alternative is to take a look in the registry for references to Diablo II. I'm not gonna lie, I had almost no idea what I was actually looking for as I opened up regedit, just some very, very, very minor experience of the registry which was mainly through using other people's tried and tested information. Well, I got lucky (almost) on the first throw. I figured the settings I wanted would be in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER and in there I saw a listing for Software. Sure enough, in there was another key for Blizzard Entertainment which contained the Diablo II key.

I just want to know if I have permanently 'tainted' my initial have-a-peek character or not and whether I will 'taint' my future characters. Just to make sure, the uninstaller that I used was the one found in Windows 10's Control Panel->Programs and Features->Then under the 'Uninstall or change a program' list, I selected Diablo II and uninstalled. Was that the uninstaller you were referring to? If not, which uninstaller were you referring to? I suspect that using that uninstaller broke it. The Diablo II installer for 1.13c or 1.14d probably thinks I didn't uninstall the program so some file somewhere indicates that it is still installed.

Nobody can ever be 100% sure that his trading partner does not indeed use it secretly and does not at all feel bad about it. Anyway, this is all i wanted to say regarding PlugY. There seems to a policy of some sort here which sometimes disregards even the mentioning of 3rd party programs. I saw no other way though to make my point on the one hand and have some questions answered on the other since the reasons behind this policy were not at all clear to me. As of now though i have no interest in trading items since, me being on and off this game since its release (more often off than on though due to its addictive nature and my so called common sense kicking in) i am currently working on killing Baal in Hell for the first time ever and i want to do it untwinked with all self-founds and preferably on at least /players 5 (nice test of patience too). Just finished Act 3 (finally) and now spend my spare time doing Meph runs on /players 1 till they come out of my ears and switching back to /players 5 when proceeding to A4. For the first time ever too. Anyways, what it comes down to is this: I have found 3 excellent uniques, excellent as far as i can tell, me being rather noobish and stuff, that are made solely for the hands of an amazon. Since i have no intention of ever playing an amazon, these 3 items just sit there in my stash (which has 'almost infinite' proportions thanks to PlugY) and stare at me accusingly. I even started playing an amazon just to make them shut up but completely lost interest in her after i brought her to the dwindeling heights of level 11. God, was i bored!
